Bret, I don't think we necessarily read only to determine what to think, but to get a subtler take on the issues. I find your argument unconvincing about Bush choosing not to read in favor of listening to Condi Rice. As to Bush being so busy, he sure takes a lot of vacations in Crawford.
How 'bout a little poll? How many hours a day do each of you read - not counting day to day work stuff (like e-mail)? As for me, I'd estimate about 90 minutes a day - 45 on the newspaper, and another 45 on periodicals or books. About a quarter of what I'd like it to do.
