I was on three flights on the 10th anniversary of 9/11: Adelaide to Sydney, Sydney to Los Angeles, and Los Angeles to San Diego. Every flight was completely full, there was no extra security or any sign of worry, and the immigration and customs lines into the United States seemed faster than usual.
The memory of 9/11 seems to be mostly faded as far as travelers are concerned.

Glad you're back home safely.
Ten years ago this November I was flying to San Francisco to meet my newborn triplets when two fighter jets flew along side us for a few minutes way high over Lake Meade.
We waved to the pilots and they waved back. One of the most thrilling things I've ever experienced.
I had a fly on the 11th of September too. I didn't so extra security too.
That's one heck of a lot of flying.

Back in the day, I was one of 8 F-111s getting dragged across the Atlantic by a couple KC-135s. Just as we were starting the second in-flight refueling sequence, we slowly overtook a Pan Am 747 that was a couple thousand feet above and to the right, laying down contrails (or maybe it was chemtrails?) like 12 O'Clock High could only dream about.
Those pax got quite the show.
Skipper, flying is something I'll have to reserve for the next time round. It must more thrilling than I can imagine. In the old days, I used to love to drive and if you can imagine, did a little drag racing in my father's new Pontiac. Not surprisingly, the only girl behind the wheel. It was exhilarating, but flying a fast plane up there in the ether must be another planet away completely.
