In The Latest Critter News ...

... Rats taught to drive tiny cars to lower their stress levels.

The most important part of this bizarre story: "The rats were not required to take a driving test at the end of the study."

However, I'm wondering, did any of the rats suffer from road rage?

I've learned that, whenever I read a media account of a research project that sounds completely frivolous or bonkers, and appears to have absolutely no practical use, if I read the whole thing I will almost certainly find the researcher claiming it might be useful in the future for some vague medical reason. And right on cue:

Dr Lambert told AFP news agency that the findings could prove useful for future research into treatments for different psychiatric conditions.

But of course. Though I'm not sure how people will fit into the tiny cars! :-)

The Babylon Bee is now the paper of record, but even they couldn't have come up with something as far-fetched as this one.

I'm sure the general public would have no problem with schizophrenics and manic depressives puttering around in little cars and changing directions at will to reduce their stress instead of taking their meds. Think of the savings on drug costs.

Was driving their big gas guzzlers the cause of their distress?

LOL.
